State E911 Public Education Materials for County Use

The Washington State E911 Office produces and makes available to each of the state’s 39 counties the following informational materials. There is no additional cost to the county for these items. You may request copies of these documents through your county 911 coordinator.

Summary of Substitute Senate Bill 5089 (cover page displayed only)

SSB 5089 addresses the situation caused by calls made from telephones connected to private telephone switching systems (such as PBXs) which may result in misleading automatic location identification being displayed at the 911 Center.

PBX in an Emergency/ Is Your School Ready for These Calls? (cover page displayed only)

This brochure is targeted for Washington state public schools using Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems. Several situations describing an emergency call from PBX systems are posed, stressing the need for schools to understand PBXs limitations and to plan for them in an emergency.

This two-sided bookmark is produced by the National Emergency Number Association (NENA). It explains when to place 9-1-1 calls.

This tri-fold brochure is targeted for the adult audience in those counties who are currently without Basic 9-1-1 services or are providing only Basic 9-1-1 service. The brochure explains what is 9-1-1; what the caller can expect when placing a call; when to dial 9-1-1; what you need to report when placing a 9-1-1 call; how to call 9-1-1 when not to call 9-1-1; and some helpful hints and other information.

This multi-colored tri-fold brochure is targeted for the adult audience in those counties with Enhanced 9-1-1 service. The pamphlet explains 9-1-1 capabilities; when a 9-1-1 call should be placed; how to place a 9-1-1 call; and what happens once a call has been placed.

9-1-1 Show Bag

This blue, plastic (14 ½” x 10″) carrying bag is designed for child to carry. It is a great bag to stuff with 9-1-1 goodies.

9-1-1 Coloring Pages (cover page displayed only)

Three pages designed for a child to color. Wording on the coloring pages are written in Spanish and English and educates the child in 9-1-1 use. A great resource in promoting a 9-1-1 coloring contest.

9-1-1 stickers to place on your telephone available in rolls of 1,000. Red background, white numerals with symbols of police, fire and medical displayed.

E911 Tax Guide

An informational brochure written cooperatively with the State Department of Revenue and the State E911 Office for telephone companies operating in Washington. The brochure explains the tax process for wireline and wireless subscribers. These taxes are collected and remitted by telecommunications companies. The brochure assists the telecommunications companies in calculating the taxes on switched and radio access lines; lists those who are exempted from these taxes and provides general tax administration information.

Red E. Fox Video Tape and Presenter Guide (distribution target June ’97) – cover page displayed only

A video tape geared for the 4-to-7 year old is being distributed to all public library systems, public elementary schools, primary Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), and to each school superintendent in Washington. A Spanish version of the Red E. Fox video tape and presenter guide may be requested for use through the 911 county coordinator.
