NENA – Texas Chapter Board

NENA – Texas Chapter
1995-96 President
Joanna Hollingsworth

I am currently the 9-1-1 Public Education and Training Manager for the Capital Area Planning Council in Austin, Texas. I began my duties with CAPCO in September 1996 after taking the summer off. Prior to CAPCO, I was the 9-1-1 Public Education Coordinator at the 9-1-1 Network of East Texas for 6 years.

I have been very active in NENA since beginning my career in 9-1-1, holding every board office for our great Texas chapter. I have been involved in planning every state conference – in some form or fashion – since I began my work with the board. Planning a conference is a challenging task – as any past board member can attest to – but one worth putting lots of effort into. With the changes we?ve all experienced in the 9-1-1 arena, it?s vital that the board provide its members with an educational and interesting experience as they gather across the state. One of the biggest assets that I?ve personally gained from our conference is the opportunity to network with colleagues (whom over the years have become my closest friends).

I am a newlywed, married June 17th to the love of my life and my best friend – Mike. Together we have three children; Lindsey – 14, Jay – 11 and Cassie – 9. Yeah, I know, many of you thought it would never happen.

I am a member of NENA, APCO and the Texas 9-1-1 Public Educators. I am a PTA board member at Anderson Mill Elementary, my daughter?s school in Round Rock and editor of the school newspaper, The Millstream, and we just completed her softball season where I was head coach. I am currently serving as the historian for NENA – Texas (no one wants to claim the boxes of “stuff” or should I say the many memories). I am also the current editor of the TENA Transfer. Believe me, you are definitely in good hands with your 1998-99 board. Please take time to communicate with your regional coordinator or any board member.
