NENA is the premiere public safety industry organization for defining 9-1-1 operational and technical issues, standardizing technical solutions and developing operational model recommendations and guidelines.

 
Various kinds of created documents include standards, information documents, requirement documents, and other forms/materials.
 
Formalized NENA documents go through an established, detailed review and approval process. Standards include technical and operational committee leadership review, followed by a public review and comment period. All comments received require action be taken by appropriate committees’ leadership. Following that, an additional review team (Standards Advisory Committee) checks that processes were correctly followed and if so, the standard is forwarded to the elected NENA Executive Board for final approval.
