Version 1 of the NG9-1-1(?) Architecture and Interfaces (i3) Standard is near completion and will proceed into review in August 2007. A VoIP Technical Committee Working Group is also being formed to develop NG9-1-1 related recommendations and considerations for IP Networks; we plan publication within 3Q2007. A joint Technical-Operations Working Group on NG9-1-1 data impacts and operational requirements has been formed under the leadership of Delaine Arnold and Marc Berryman. Monitoring of and liaisons with other SDOs (many international in scope) continues, and more emphasis on automatic location standards is evident, although various SDOs are at different points in the development of standards for this critical capability across technologies that can or will be able to initiate emergency communications.
