Delay in filing Tariff

August 10, 1998

St. Clair County ETSB received the following letter from GTE:

RE:  Delay in filing Tariff

Dear: St. Clair County ETSB

GTE will delay filing a new 9-1-1 tariff with the Illinois Commerce Commission to allow more time to respond to our customers’ concerns about proposed rate changes.  We’d planned on filing the tariff August 10 but recognized the need to take some additional time to communicate these proposed changes to our counties.

We’re in the process of notifying each county of the delay and will also contact them when we have a new filing date.

Sincerely,

Jerry Anderson

Senior Account Manager – E911

Attention GTE Tariff revision to be filed August 10th 1998.

The INENA Region 7 9-1-1 Coordinators feel that it is imperative that the Illinois Commerce Commission hold public hearings on the proposed GTE 9-1-1 revised tariff. They are asking any 9-1-1 System in Illinois that is served by GTE as the Lead Telco to assist them in their efforts.

Many of the 9-1-1 Systems in Region 7, extreme southern Illinois, will experience budget short falls. These short falls could lead to a reduction in the level of service they are able to provide or endanger their very survival.

The Region 7 Coordinators are asking each GTE 9-1-1 system administrator, coordinator, or director to forward information as to how the proposed tariff will impact their system?s operating budget to:

Oscar H Sanders, 9-1-1 Coordinator,
Union County E9-1-1 System
P. O. Box P
Jonesboro, IL 62952
Work Phone (618) 833-5442
Fax (618) 833-4011

E-mail address: [email protected]

Oscar is acting as a clearinghouse on this information and put together a join report showing the overall impact of the tariff revision proposed by GTE.

The Region 7 Coordinators are asking that those persons responsible for the operation of GTE 9-1-1 systems within the State of Illinois write a letter of formal objection to the proposed Tariff and send it to ICC Chief Clerk, Donna M. Payton. Deb Prather, 9-1-1 Program Director for ICC should be copied. Please spell out in detail how this tariff will impact your budget and your ability to operate. Please mail the formal object no later than Wednesday, 8/5/98.

Thank each of you for your support,

Oscar Sanders
