Annual Convention

The Illinois Chapter of NENA will co-host the 15th Annualcombined NENA/APCO/ICC 9-1-1 State Chapter Conference on October 24-27, 1999, in Decatur,Illinois. The Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn in Decatur. Decatur continues tobe the conference site because it is centrally located in the state.

Both the INENA and the APCO organizations, with over 500 members each,share many of the same membership and officers. Both organizations have combinedassistance through the Illinois Commerce Commission.

David C. Whipple, President of INENA, reported that the conferenceattendance has grown each year and now averages 670. He feels that the general sessions atthe conference appeal to a broad spectrum of attendees while the breakout sessions aregeared to specific areas of interest.

Vendors continue to be an important part of the conference. Theysupport the effort of providing product and service displays as well as participating onvarious panels and as speakers. There are 50 vendor booths along with meeting roomsavailable for those vendors who wish to have small meetings or profile specialpresentations.

President Whipple stated that besides the educational aspect, thisconference provides an opportunity to share ideas and investigate solutions on importantcurrent topics.

In preparation for the “Millennium”, the theme forthis year’s conference will be “A New Years Eve Gala Affair”.
